Being Thankful and Staying Positive
I’m going through a weird time emotionally due to my Nana being in the hospital. It’s a bizarre mixture of sadness that she’s in the state she’s in, happiness that she’s still alive, and anxiety about what the next few months will look like. The roller coaster of emotions has been going on overdrive this week and it’ll be going on for a while so instead of fixating on it, I’m going to take some time to think of the things that I’m thankful for. It is Thanksgiving after all and I should be counting my blessings even if my mom’s side of the family is not going to be gathering around the table this year. (At least, not traditionally.)
Plus, it’s Nana’s favorite tradition for everyone to say one thing that they’re thankful for so this will be my way of keeping her in my heart today.
To start with, I’m thankful that I have such a loving and supportive family. With all that’s been going on, we’ve really banded together in this time of need to make sure my Nana is okay and my Popop is taken care of. My mom and aunt were great at keeping everyone calm and informed, even when there were some bumps in the road. I even got to see my sister for a bit when she flew up from Florida to visit Nana in person. It’s simply nice to know I have a strong family that’ll stick together in good times and bad.
