Bronze Star: A Horror Western Done Right
You know, Twitter/X is an alright place. There are a lot of crazies on that platform but sometimes the algorithm sends some good stuff your way. I had been following some comic creators pretty much as soon as I joined the site but ever since my Soulfinder review, I was introduced many more accounts. One such user was a man named Mike Baron, a comic writer who just so happened to have an active campaign for his supernatural western Bronze Star.
Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve read a western, so I backed the campaign, and my copy came in the mail last week. Here are my thoughts.
Bronze Star follows a man named Harley Brogden, your typical cowboy who finds himself on the run after killing a man in self-defense over a dispute. He crosses the border into Canada (like you do) and finds himself in the town of Cobb’s Gap. To say this town is eccentric is an understatement; not only is their sheriff under a curse, which everyone knows about and is okay with apparently, but something is haunting the nearby silver mines that kills anyone who enters it.
Normally, this would spook someone into moving somewhere else, but Brogden decides to stay in this nowhere…
