Heroic Tales #1: A Delightful Love Letter to Superhero Comics
Phew! Man, I love the holiday season but it can be a little exhausting. But the presents were given, merriment was had, and family moments were treasured. Now it’s time to review a comic that I’ve posted about before but haven’t given it a proper review until now.
Heroic Tales #1 is the debut comic of Long Box Comics and was written by John Bua, who runs the YouTube channel John’s Longbox. I know of him from his streams with R.J. Shaw, a.k.a. The Fourth Age, and he’s a pretty knowledgeable dude when it comes to comics. When creating Heroic Tales, he’s stated that he wanted to make a comic book that was more like the traditional superhero stories he enjoys. Sounds good to me, and the book features Renzo Rodriguez’s art which is always a bonus!
Our story opens with bank robbery and before things take a turn, The Patriarch, Science City’s greatest hero, shows up to save the day. With the perp apprehended, he flies around to patrol the city, stopping here and there to help people in…
