Jonah Hex: Shadows West (a review)
So, I’ve talked about green tentacle monsters, voodoo zombies, and senseless violence towards anyone with a pulse. What are we in for this week? The exploitation of Native American women and bear-human babies that curse like a sailor!
Buckle up.
The last of the Vertigo Jonah Hex mini-series, Jonah Hex: Shadows West, was published in 1999, leaving a decent gap between it and the other two series, with only three issues. Same three of the artists return for this one (at this point it would be weird otherwise) yet the tone is slightly different from the previous two entries which I’ll get to a little bit later. The only fun fact I can give for this one is that the graphic novel collection for these mini-series shares the same name at this mini-series. So, yeah. You’re gonna have to specialize your Google search when looking up this one.
I don’t have much else to say as far a cute little tidbits so I’m going to just get right into the plot description before I find something to tangent about.
Jonah Hex ends up in a random town where he is immediately brought to a judge for soliciting from the town prostitute (our hero, everyone). He’s let go…
