Jurassic World: Dominion (a quick review)

Well, this is a first for me.

I’m going to lay all my cards on the table now: I have only seen the very first Jurassic Park movie a few years ago. It was the anniversary re-release of the original film with a special 3D experience and my dad insisted we had to go see it. At that point, I had never seen Jurassic Park, so I was game.

That was honestly the best movie experience I had ever had. Even with the cheap foam seats.

So, you’ll understand that, despite not being a mega fan of the franchise, I still held it in high regard. It’s a popcorn film but it’s still a fun modern version of Frankenstein. With that said, I had no desire to see the newer movies starring Chris Pratt, especially when the reviews of the second film came out rotten.

Fast forward to Father’s Day 2022. I had texted my dad a few days earlier asking what he wanted to do, and he replied that he wanted to see Jurassic World: Dominion with dinner afterwards (the movie choice was also influenced by my stepmother, who is a lowkey fan, but c’est la vie). I had no complaints, so I hurried over to the movie theater at 3:30pm to watch the latest of the Jurassic Park films.

The first thing I noticed about the movie was that it was way too long. There are two (three, depending on how you view it) different plots…
