Oh What a Year! (Late December back in 2023)

Welp, it’s New Year’s Eve. Looks like we made it folks! 2023 has been one heck of a year for me, as I’m sure it has been for you guys as well.

Where to begin?

Well, I’ve had a few changes in my personal life. Published my first short story book by myself, got a new job, and somehow got myself a boyfriend. Yeah, I’m not entirely sure how that last one happened either. I was just minding my own business and then boom! A cute guy agrees to be my boyfriend. Weird.

But it wasn’t all good. This past month my Nana passed away. I’ve been carrying on as best as I can but every so often, something will remind me of her. A week ago, while I was practicing my Japanese on Duolingo, I learned the word for Fall (aki) and my immediate first thought was “oh hey, that’s Nana’s favorite season” and almost broke down crying. It’s hard to think that my family will be going into 2024 without her, but I’ll be sure to carry all the lessons and love she bestowed on me from now on.
