The blanket, the cat, and I.

A few years ago, I was given a blanket for Christmas. This wasn’t an ordinary blanket, no no! It was one of those fuzzy blankets that would warm you up in seconds and keep you warm through a long winter night. Super cozy and perfect for hermits like me. I brought it home and made the mistake of leaving it on my bed while I cleaned up a bit. I returned to my room to find that my cat, Buttercup, had settled on it with no intention of leaving.

Little did I know that this was the start of a long territory war.

Whenever I brought out that blanket, Buttercup took every opportunity to steal it from me. Didn’t matter if I was away for five minutes or twenty minutes, she would rush to claim it with her big, fluffy behind. Mind you, this spoiled little princess has her own cat tree, a wool bed, MY meditation pillow, TWO Amazon boxes to curl up in, and MY own bed to snuggle up in. And yet, she will go out of her way to steal this particular blanket from me!

At first, I just left her be since I had plenty of blankets left to me by my grandmother. However, I came to really like that blanket! It’s soft and big enough to cocoon myself in. And it was rightfully given to me in the first place…
