Alan Moore’s The Courtyard and Neonomicon (a review)

When it comes to spooky, I have a few options when it comes to Alan Moore. You’ve got The Killing Joke, one of the darkest comics in DC history that depicts the Joker shooting Batgirl in the spine and taking nude pictures of her while she writhes on the floor, implying that he raped her (Moore later clarified at a con that the Joker did not rape her). Or I could have gone with From Hell, a story about the possible identity of Jack the Ripper. Hell, I could have saved The Bojeffries Saga for October since it’s basically the British version of The Addams Family.

However, I’ve decided to go with something he did more recently; two comics that have become more controversial than Watchmen was back in its day, and for good reason.
The Courtyard/Neonomicon were published by Avatar press in 2003 and 2010 respectively. Actually, The Courtyard was originally a short story written by Alan Moore in 1994 and it eventually became the prologue to Neonomicon.
