The Electric Sublime (a review)
You guys are in for a treat.
The Electric Sublime is a four-issue series that was released by IDW back in 2017. It was written by W. Maxwell Prince who’s most well-known for the anthology series Ice Cream Man. The artists for this series are Martin Morazzo, who also worked on Ice Cream Man, and Mat Lopes, who worked on Dead Body Road. I remember seeing the first issue back then and decided to give it a shot. It was so ridiculous that I laughed my butt off then forgot about it. Recently I decided to give it another shot to see if the whole thing was as ridiculous as the first issue.
Oh yes, it was. And more.
The series opens with a very disturbing discovery: the Mona Lisa is winking! The Bureau of Artistic Integrity is contacted after it’s linked to a series of strange crimes. Seeing no other option, Director Margot Breslin of B.A.I. decides to bring out the big guns: Arthur “Art” Brut, a “dreampainter” who currently resides in the mental hospital. They must work together to solve this mystery and it’s not long before they find their suspects; a man running around in an Andy Warhol cosplay causing chaos and a mysterious school for children with psychic art powers.
