Superman For All Seasons

I’ve noticed that there’s a lot of distrust around comics journalism these days. Outside of the politics (which is another issue for another article), a good chunk of comic readers stopped trusting nerd media websites due to the manufactured sensationalism and lack of real journalism. When you get down to it, all comic nerds want from the news are updates on their favorite titles and the latest scoop on new titles/writers/artists. That’s it.

As someone who has an entire blog about comic books and writing, I make sure to construct my reviews as fairly as possible while acknowledging my own bias. However, I understand the general skepticism towards reviews/the news in general these days and I get why any comic consumer would give me a suspicious glance. Which brings me to the point of this article!

Doom Patrol

In honor of Stan Lee and Spider Jerusalem, today I will lay out my criteria for what I consider a “good comic”. Yes, I have criteria for what is considered a “good comic” because a line needs to be drawn somewhere, damnit! They’re nothing too complicated and something I feel every reviewer should report on with full honesty.
