What was Comicsgate?

If you’ve been following me for some time, you’ve probably heard me mention this thing called Comicsgate. It was a big drama in the comic book community and I’ve been meaning to make an article about it for a while. However, it’s a very controversial topic for numerous reasons and it’s still kinda going on (more on that later). Plus, whenever I try to explain it to the normies in my life, they all look at me like I’m Sheldon Cooper explaining quantum physics. But I feel this is a topic worth discussing even if the main conflict has long since been over (though it will still ruffle a few feathers).

Before we begin, here’s a few disclaimers. This is just going to be a brief summary that covers the main beats of everything; I’m not going to mention every little squabble that happened. There’s a lot of buildup and stupidity that contributed to this internet drama being blown way out of proportion. Also, I did my best to get the timeline right and I’ll include links when needed but if I got some events mixed-up, let me know. Get comfortable everyone, this is going to be a long one.
